H. R. Giger died on the 12th of May this year, from injuries he sustained after a fall.
My Dad introduced me to Giger's works and then when I took art at GCSE we studied his art. I never really enjoyed art at school. In the end I got a C in art and never studied art in an academic setting again.
I wanted to do a tribute to Giger's works, I started it the day i heard that he died and only just got around to finishing it. Unlike most of my work there is meaning behind it. I thought I would go back to my 14 year old self and try to create something a bit deeper and meaningful. Instead of my usual: "Oh it's a portrait... again."
