The Kill Screen Hardcover

Today I received in the post the most luxurious of graphic novels.  A nice hardback edition of Mike Garley's: The Kill Screen.  Not only is Mike one of the nicest guys in the indie comic scene, but it also makes for a bloody good read.  There is depth and some pretty cool ideas/ social critique of the modern age in there also.

If you missed the Kickstarter and comics is your thing, definitely check it out.

In all honesty I am not the biggest comic fan.  I read my fair share in my teens and early 20's.  My favourites have to be Lone Wolf and Cub, The Watchmen and Sinister Dexter.  Which is why I was surprised by Mike's work.  It captured me and I decided to draw some fan art for it.  I mocked up a cover and sent it to him and I was thrilled to see my name in the book and my art featured.

Royal: Three's a Company

Pola- Royal's protagonist.

Now that I have set up everything for my gallery I have commenced work on Royal.  After two years I would like to put some time aside for it once again.

Royal: Three's a Company originally was released on the 26th Febuary 2013.  I had a small run of one-hundred produced and they all sold out.  having improved in both my artwork, presentation and writing I am looking at making it the comic I always wanted it to be.

It is a selfish venture, as I am not doing it for profit or with an audience in mind.  I am writing it for myself and my sister that invented the stories back when we were kids.  I hope others appreciate it too but really I just want to give the story the time it deserves.

Dredd: 2 Year Anniversary

It has been 2 years to the day that Dredd hit cinemas in the UK.  I'm still hoping for a sequel and having just signed up to the nice hard-cover fortnightly graphic novel collection, I thought I should pay tribute the series.

The top right was drawn in February of this year whilst the rest were drawn back in 2012.

Royal Remastered

Due to work, art commitments and life in general Royal, my first comic creation has been on the back burner for a long time (two years!) Now I have sorted a lot out, found a team and allocated some free time, I can now announce that Royal is on the horizon.

I have started work on remastering the old comic and have written a few scripts for extra story content.

It may be some time yet but I hope to have it ready by Christmas, however I want it to be mistake free, unlike the last version so it may take me a little longer.

See the list below for what to expect.

Some Tea?

I had two day dreams while in the bath caused by my sore throat and delirium.

Here is the second drawn up lazily as a comic.  The first will take some more effort.

Under the Knife

Just a space filler:
A picture of the Alien Queen that I drew some time ago.
In seven and a half hours time, if all goes well I shall be put under the knife.  For two years I have had permanently inflamed and infected tonsils.  Resulting in on and off fever, loss of voice, vomiting and constant throat infections.

Well now it is all going to be sorted out thanks to my fiancée lobbying the local MP.

I doubt there will be a halt in productivity but if there is this is why.

In art related news having just finished the MCM all but five of my copies of Royal have been sold.  Granted my first print run of my first comic was probably too big, but now they have nearly all gone!

Due to this and a lot of interest I have decided to dust off my scripts for The Golden Lands and the next longer Royal tale.

Having completed the first part of the photo shoot for one of them today artwork will be following soon.

I also have a lot of new regarding the MCM and collaborative projects but more shall be discussed about those later!

More Zombies

Zombies are always popular.  The zombies I have been drawing of late have been very well received and as I like drawing them here are some more!

Jimmy Feldspar

James Stayte is not only one of my artistic heroes but also a firm friend and a creative collaborator of mine.  His art style is brilliant, child friendly and fun.

Back in January it was his birthday and I meant to give him a picture, however I never finished it.  Now almost 2 months later it is done.

Here is my rendition of his character Jimmy Feldspar, the reluctant Martian fighter from his comic Big Jimmy.

Royal: The Scarlet King

The sequel to my comic Royal: Three's a Company.

This time I have gone with a much more free flowing impressionistic approach, allowing the mood to come across more.  With the first instalment I got really sick of using reference all the time to get lighting right. This time I am using much less reference so I can work quicker and enjoy what I am doing.

This is the final art but the text probably will change as this is the first draft.

But here is a little teaser of what is to come.

MCM: What I Shall Be Bringing!

I shall be bringing a lot of brand new premium quality prints in various sizes to the MCM Comic Con next weekend (26th-27th October).

Here's just a small selection what I shall be bringing:
Myself with my comic "Royal" and artbook "Hidden Beauties"-both of which I shall have on my table at the con! (two of my framed pieces are present in the background).

Demonstrating the three sizes my prints will be available in.
A small selection of my prints that I will be bringing with me!

As well as a variety of prints, my comic and art book, I shall also be sketching for people!

See you there, table CG1 of Comic Village!
