Mr. Hiddleston

A Tom Hiddleston for my good pal Marisa.

Sometimes it nice to have a break and just use direct reference.  It is a nice calming exercise rather than a brain workout.

Daily Doodle: The Tiger Who Came to Tea

A book that I rediscovered in adulthood and found the Tiger to be damn creepy and sinister.  Today's Daily Doodle prompt was The Tiger Who Came To Tea.

Here was my tribute to the book.

Pause N' Paint #17, #18

UwantmeKilllhim (2000)  3.5/5

This film was shot in my home town.  I happened to see it being shot one day when I was on my lunch break from work.  When I enquired to what was going on they basically told me to sod off.  I assumed that it was some college production, then I happened to see the film on Netflix a day ago and decided to watch it.

It's pretty weird seeing a film shot where you live.  Due to my experience with the shoot I wanted to hate it, but it was alright.

The Queen's Golden Jubilee

I drew these in celebration of the Queen's Golden Jubilee.  Sadly neither of my predictions came true.  She wasn't a Terminator and did not ascend to the glory of an Old One.

Landscape Studies

These were among the first digital paintings I did.  They took me days and were very frustrating despite using direct photo reference.  Still I have copies of both in the house as they are both very tranquil compared to the rest of my art.

Pause N' Paint #2+3

The second and third Pause N' Paint Pieces!

What a tongue twister.  Two speed paints, 100% impressionistic.  I prefer the second but which do you prefer?

Oh also what is the film?

One clue: Statham

Getting Serious

With my latest adventure into the partnership.  I have been encouraged to stick to my guns and actually focus on my art.

Therefore I have started on my largest picture ever!

Here is the start of it.

Just the eye alone has taken a fair amount of time but I know with some more effort it shall shall turn out nicely.

Rachael Foley

People say that I am good with horror.  I am also pretty into Resident Evil Revelations at the moment, so I drew my interpretation of Rachael Foley, one of the most disturbing villains in the Resident Evil series.

Preview Of My New Comic!

I am currently working on a new comic which I will be ordering a print run of once it is completed.

I intend on selling the comic at conventions, as well as my Payvment store. I already have the story storyboarded and written out, so now becomes the long process of drawing it all out, adding the text and making it presentable.

Here are two sample pages of what it will be like. The comic combines my impressionistic/oil painting style with noir-ish writing. I hope you like what you see! I am hoping that I will have my first print run of the book by December, although as I work a full time job as well as draw, it all depends on how busy everything is.

Please keep an eye on my deviantART for more tasters of the book, and I'll update the blog every so often to fill you all in on how it is progressing.
A tester page.

Draw Again Contest

On DeivantArt, a site that I do have a rather severe love hate relationship with, I was linked to a Meme that also was part of a contest.  Now whilst I do not expect to win, I thought it would be a good thing to do.

When I teach art I am always preaching that you should redraw pictures again and again if you want them to look good, so I thought it was time to give it a go.  I took two old pictures that I was proud of and re-drew them.

Desdemona 2010 vs 2012
A piece that I did for Halloween almost to the day two years ago, now re-drawn.

Ice Face 2008 vs 2012
My second ever acrylic painting drawn four years ago.  I still have it up in my flat despite the lack of technique as it has a spot in my heart.  However I thought this was a good reason to redraw it.
